Welcome to the 27th Ion Channel Meeting
Since 1989, the "Association Canaux Ioniques" organizes a yearly meeting which aims at gathering the international scientific community working on all aspects of Ion channels. This meeting allows academics, students, as well as scientists from the pharmaceutical industry to share their latest advances in a relaxed but nonetheless studious atmosphere.
This year, the Association will hold its 27th annual meeting at the holiday village "Le Lazaret" in Sète from September 11-14, 2016.
Owing to the fundamental role ion channels play in biology, this meeting attracts about 150 people every year from different scientific backgrounds and countries. Every year, particular focuses are ascribed to specific hot topics encompassing broad aspects of ion channel research, from the fundamental research (biophysics, physiological regulation etc.) to the clinical research (channelopathies, drug screening, therapeutical strategies).
One of the primary goals of the meeting is to allow students and young researchers to meet and interact with internationally recognized scientists. Invited speakers are asked to attend the whole meeting.
To encourage PhD student to attend the meeting and to present their results, the registration rate for student is deliberately very low (€220 all included).
To support young scientists, the labex ICST offers 2 poster prizes. Competition is open to postdoctoral fellows and PhD students as presenting authors.
Thanks to an IBRO Support, the French Ion channel Association provides a grant to cover travel expenses and accommodation to a PhD Student or a young post-doctoral researcher to attend the 27th Ion Channel meeting in September 2016.
To qualify for this award, the applicant must both be a citizen of and reside in a country that the World Bank has classified low, lower-middle or upper-middle income. The applicant should be the first author of an abstract to be presented at the meeting. A copy of the abstract to be submitted for a poster or a platform presentation is required as well as a brief CV with a cover letter emphasizing his/her expectations.
Applicants will be notified prior to the abstract deadline of June 5th of the current year as to whether they have been elected for the travel grant. Visas and other immigration arrangements are the responsibility of the selected person.
Once registered remember to use the Forum for a simpler and cheaper way to reach the meeting
